The case is in good condition on the inside, but has some wear and discoloration on parts of the outside. Vintage Fender Champion Lap Steel Slide Guitar. It has all slotted screws, Broadcaster knobs, Broadcaster jack cup, and is the rare blue color (Gruhn's guide says that blue was made in batches, with one being in 1949, and the other batches a little later - but those would not have had slot-head screws, or the type of case this one has (tweed, no leather ends, with this kind of handle.) Overall, i would say it is in Very Good condition. A small piece of fibre or cardboard was usually placed over the eyeletâs so they didnât short out with the metal case of the pickup. For the Champ it was this pickup, for the Jazzmaster it was the neck and the neck plate. The pickups were also wax potted to help eliminate unwanted feedback and added protection to the coil. Like the Jazzmaster in the late 80s and 90s these instruments were cheap and unfortunately shared parts with very desirable expensive guitars. I feel so saddened for this innocent little Champ. I did not remove the pots to look at the date codes, but they look like they have never been touched to me. This is my version of a 54 Fender Champ lap steel pickup. The only real difference is the Studio Deluxe is same shape as Champ but with legs, but there is no compartment for the legs. It was made to fit Fender Champ or Fender Studio Deluxe.

I purchased it from a family who had it for a long time. Fender Champ Lap Steel Case - Vintage - 280 (Elkhart) This is vintage 50s or 60s Fender lap steel guitar case butterscotch tweed is in very good shape. It improved the clarity over the stock pickup in my Fender 1000 pedal steel.

Rare blue color, faded to green (very similar to the color of an alligator, as it is from Louisiana.) Serial number 2205. I had Jerry custom wound my LS-10 to 8k ohms.
